Oklahoma City got a 17-6 mid-week win against Briar Cliff, then swept a three-game series against Lubbock Christian, 1-0, 5-3, and 7-4, giving the Chaparrals their first losses of the season. Corey Theriot pitched a complet-game shutout in the first game, allowed four hits, struck out five. 2B/3B Dearth Parker hit an RBI double in the bottom of the fifth to score the only run of the game. Paul Gonzalez, who pitched a complete game for the Chaparrals, got the loss. In the second game, the Stars lit up Chaparral starter Lucas Whitmore for five runs in the first two innings, and the Chaparrals left the bases loaded three times. Allen Townsend got the win. The Stars and Chaparrals will not meet again until the Sooner Conference tournament. The three losses dropped the Chaparrals to 14-3. The Chaparrals visit Kansas Wesleyan on Tuesday, host York (8-6) on Wednesday, and host Rogers State (17-1) March 11-12.
The Stars finished the week with a 22-8 win over Iowa Wesleyan, to run their record to 15-2. SS Kirk Walker, 1B Austin Messerli, and CF Terrance Jackson hit home runs. The Stars play one more game against Iowa Wesleyan on Tuesday, host Northwestern Oklahoma State on Thursday, and visit Northwestern Oklahoma State on March 12.
Cumberland swept three close games against Freed-Hardeman, and Aaron Wilkerson got his second straight shutout. He held Freed-Hardeman to two hits and struck out 11 in a 4-0 win. Wilkerson's performance was matched by Will Locante in the second game, a 2-1 win. Locante allowed four hits, struck out 12, and the only run he allowed was a solo home run. The Bulldogs won the third game 4-2 on a two-RBI single by RF Cory Farris.
The Bulldogs recorded another win over Texas Wesleyan, 6-5. SS/RHP Tommy Winegardner batted in two runs and pitched the last two innings to get a save.
The Bulldogs are 13-3. They have another game at Texas Wesleyan Monday, visit Northwood (TX) Tuesday and LSU-Shreveport Wednesday. Then they host Trevecca Nazarene March 11-12.
Lee started the week with a rainout at Young Harris, then split a mid-week double-header at Trevecca Nazarene, winning 9-1, and losing 2-0. Curtis Cammilli went the seven-inning distance in the first game, allowed no earned runs on three hits. LF Seth Walker hit a three-run home run. Dylan Kuhn, B.J. Boston, and Michael Son combined for the shutout for the Trojans in the second game; Boston pitched four innings, struck out seven of the 14 batters he faced.
The Flames then won two games against Emmanuel, 3-2 and 2-1, running their record to 17-5. They have one more game against Emmanuel on Monday, then host U. of Mobile March 11-12. Shay Crawford is 5-0 for the Flames, has struck out 42, and hasn't allowed an earned run in 31 2/3 innings.
Cal Baptist swept four games against Westmont, winning 3-2 and 5-0 at home, and 14-3 and 10-2 on the road. Lewis-Clark State split four games at home with Concordia-Portland. They lost the first game 13-7. DH Odie Hollingshed hit two home runs for the Cavaliers, batted in five runs. The Cavaliers came close to taking two straight from the Warriors; they led the second game 5-2 going into the bottom of the eighth, but the Warriors got an RBI single by LF Jake Eccles and a two-RBI single by SS Cody Weiss to send it into extra innings. Warrior reliever Zach Hull held the Cavaliers to two hits the rest of the way, and CF Connor Moore singled in the winning run in the bottom of the 12th. The final score was 6-5; Weiss went 4-6 for the game, and Hull pitched seven innings in relief. The Warriors won the third game 5-1; starter Casey Edelbrock allowed two hits over seven innings. Embry-Riddle swept three games against Southeastern, 6-0, 9-1, and 9-5, and defeated Bellevue 5-4. Ryan Vigue pitched a complete-game shutout, allowed four hits, struck out ten. LF/RF Greg Smith batted in the winning run against Bellevue, and Robbie Ratliff got the win in relief.
The Eagles are 17-2, and have a busy week ahead of them. They play Jamestown on Monday at a neutral site, host Tennessee Wesleyan Tuesday and Wednesday, and visit South Carolina-Beaufort March 11-12. Steve Sabins is batting .468 for the Eagles.
Point Loma Nazarene won three of four against San Diego Christian. The Sea Lions won the third game of the series 13-12 in 11 innings; they left the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth. San Diego Christian scored two runs in the top of the 11th to go ahead 12-10, but the Sea Lions answered with a run scored on a hit batter, a sacrifice fly by 2B Tyler Kuehl, and an RBI single by DH Scott Stidham. Maurice Wilhelm got the win. San Diego Christian won the fourth game 6-3; Marco Solis went the distance for the Hawks, held the Sea Lions to five hits.
The Sea Lions are now 9-4. They visit Biola on Monday, Concordia-Irvine Wednesday and Thursday, and host Concordia-Irvine March 12.
Southern Polytechnic got a 5-4 win at Auburn-Montgomery, then swept three games at Shorter, 3-0, 7-1, and 16-3. Will Rankin got the complete-game shutout, and his record is 4-0, 1.71 ERA. Brad Hutson, who got a no-decision against Auburn-Montgomery, is 3-0, 0.78 ERA. The Hornets are 19-3; they visit Montreat on Tuesday, and William Carey March 11-12.
British Columbia got two wins at Corban, 17-1 and 4-1; two more scheduled games were rained out, and will be made up April 3. Freshman LF Sebastian Wong went 5-6 in the first game, batted in two runs, and scored two more. Eric Brown had another excellent outing in the second game, allowed two hits, struck out five. The Thunderbirds are 10-5, and host Lewis-Clark State March 11-13.
