Oklahoma City (19-4, 10-1 SAC) defeated Southern
Nazarene 12-11, and swept three
games against Mid-America Christian,
15-5, 8-1, and 11-0. 2B Brian Fisher went 3-for-5 with a home run,
five RBI, and two runs scored against Southern Nazarene. CC/RF Dane
Phillips hit a three-run home run in the first game against
Mid-America Christian. Cody Crabaugh got the win in the second game,
allowed two hits in five innings. Davis Henderson, Will Patrigo, and
Allen Townsend combined for the shutout in the third game; Henderson
recorded ten strikeouts. The Stars host Bethany March
12, Southern Nazarene March 13, and Briar Cliff March 17-18.
Concordia-Irvine (15-6, 7-1 GSAC) won two of three in a
non-conference series against Cal State-San Marcos,
losing 7-3 and winning 8-7 (10 innings) and 6-5. James Dykstra went
the distance for the Cougars in the first game, allowed three runs on
six hits, struck out seven. LF Kyle Konicek hit an RBI single for the
winning run in the second game. CF John Doering laid down a bunt to
score 2B Chris Limus for the winning run in the third game. The
Eagles visit Point Loma Nazarene March
16, host Point Loma Nazarene March 17, and host Sioux Falls
18 and 21. The Eagles are tied with Azusa Pacific for
the lead in the Golden State Athletic Conference.
Lee (25-2-1, 12-0 SSAC) defeated Bryan 2-0,
tied Tennessee Temple 7-7,
and swept Loyola-New Orleans 9-0, 7-3, and 15-0. Dustin
Lawson, Jose Samayoa, Joe Fabre, and Andy Hillis combined for the
two-hit shutout against Bryan, Samayoa struck out seven in for
innings, got the win. Kris Hall went eight innings in the first
shutout against Loyola; allowed two hits, struck out 15.
Hall was named NAIA Pitcher of the Week. 2B Blake Barber went 3-for-4
with a double and two RBI in the second game. Patrick Merckling and
Ryan Zimmer combined for the shutout in the third game; Merckling
struck out ten in five innings. The Flames visit Reinhardt March
14, and Shorter March
16-17. The Flames lead the Southern States Athletic
Conference; Faulkner is
second with a 10-2 record.
Lubbock Christian (15-7. 8-1 SAC) lost to Division II
Texas-Permian Basin 4-2, and swept U. of Science and Arts of
Oklahoma 8-6, 15-2, and 7-4.
The loss to Texas-Permian Basin was the first ever for the
Chaparrals. 2B Jordan Lewis went 5-for-5 with four RBI in the second
game against USAO. The Chaparrals visit Northwestern
Oklahoma State March 15-16, and host Texas-Permian Basin March
18.
Embry-Riddle (20-7, 8-2 Sun Conference) won two of three
against Cumberland, 8-5,
10-6, and 3-8. CF Frankie Arias went 3-for-3 with an RBI in the
second game. Cody Ferrell, Keith Kirby, and Mike Mandarino combined
to hold the Eagles to five hits in the third game; 3B Josh McGee went
4-for-5 with three RBI for the Bulldogs. The Eagles defeated Aquinas
15-4, and won two of three
against Indiana Tech,
2-0, 1-3, and 18-5. Kevin Maloney pitched the shutout in the first
game against Indiana Tech, allowed five hits, struck out six. DH
Ignatius Mackenzie singled in the winning run for Indiana Tech in the
second game; Tyler Snoke got the win. Mackenzie was named NAIA Player
of the Week. RF Ian MacGeorge hit three doubles in the third game;
the Eagles had 21 hits off seven Indiana Tech pitchers. The Eagles
host Northwestern Ohio March 15, and Northwood (FL)
March 16-17. They then visit
Lewis-Clark State March
19-21.
LSU-Shreveport (19-3, 8-3 RRAC) swept a double-header
against LSU-Alexandria 16-5
and 13-1, and won two of three against Texas C.,
7-0, 5-3, and 2-3. Jared Mortensen and Ben Suit combined for a
two-hit shutout in the first game; Mortensen went eight innings,
struck out eleven. Matt Lackie went the seven-inning distance for the
Pilots in the second game, struck out nine. Aldo Montoya went the
distance for the Steers in the third game, scattered eight hits. The
Pilots host Northwood (TX) March 16-17.
Cumberland (15-9, 5-1 TranSouth Conference) defeated
Bellevue 10-2, lost two of
three to Embry-Riddle (see
above), defeated Aquinas 2-1,
and swept three games against Lyon 1-0,
1-0, and 13-3. Mike Mandarino batted .400 for the week, hit four home
runs and batted in twelve runs, and pitched
a complete-game shutout against Lyon. 2B Sam Lind batted in the
winning run in both of the 1-0 wins. The Bulldogs host Missouri
Baptist March 13-14, and visit Martin Methodist March
16-17..
Faulkner (21-7, 10-2 SSAC) won two of three against Iowa
Wesleyan, 6-5 (11 innings),
1-6, and 12-2. They then swept three games at Spring Hill,
6-0, 4-2, and 11-2. Cory Black pitched the two-hit shutout, struck
out seven. The Eagles were out-hit 6-4 in the second game, but three
of their four runs were unearned. SS Daniel Cayton went 3-for-4 with
a home run and two RBI in the third game. The Eagles host Lindsey
Wilson March 14, and Belhaven
(18-10) March 16-17.

Okahoma Baptist (22-2, 6-0 SAC) defeated North Central
26-0, and swept three games
against Oklahoma Christian,
12-2, 5-0, and 7-6 (12 innings). Chad Hardison pitched a two-hit
shutout in the second game. Daniel Howell batted in the winning run
in the third game, and hit a home run earlier in the game. The Bison
host Briar Cliff March 14 and Rogers State (22-5)
March 17, and visit Rogers State March 15. Oklahoma Baptist

Biola (12-13, 6-6 GSAC) won three of four against Vanguard,
8-2, 6-1, 5-6, and 7-3. Jeff Grijalva went the distance in the first
game, held the Lions to two hits. C Mike Lopez went 3-for-4 with two
RBI in the second game. The Lions got their first conference win of
the season on a bases-loaded squeeze bunt by 3B Eric Sanchez in the
bottom of the ninth. They trailed 5-2 going into the bottom of the
ninth, and tied it with a two-RBI double by 1B Bryce Arroyo. Arroyo
was 3-for-4 with three RBI for the game. The Eagles visit Cal
State-San Marcos March 15, and host Cal State-San Marcos
March 16.
Campbellsville (17-4, 4-2 Mid-South Conference) won two of
three at Shawnee State, 4-7, 2-0, and 4-2. Austin Dunfee got
the complete-game win for Shawnee State in the first game. Jacob Cook
got the shutout in the second game, and Michael McBride went the
distance in the third game. The Tigers also defeated Missouri
Baptist 6-1; The Tigers visit
Trevecca Nazarene March
14, and host Pikeville March
16-17.
