#9 Missouri Baptist (#1 according to Perfect Game) had four scheduled games canceled. They will play in a tournament at Campbellsville Feb. 26-28, against Campbellsville and Saint Francis (IN), but it's not clear if those games will happen, either (video).
#1 Cumberland had five scheduled games canceled. They are scheduled to host Freed-Hardeman Feb. 24 (video), visit #6 Georgia Gwinnett Feb. 25, and host Marygrove, a new baseball program, Feb. 27-28 (video). Marygrove also lost some games to weather, so the series at Cumberland will be their first-ever baseball games.
#2 Lewis-Clark State split four games with Division II Western Oregon, 11-0, 4-6, 8-4, and 0-5. Beau Kerns pitched a complete game shutout in the first game. He allowed six hits, recorded nine strikeouts. It was his third straight complete game, and he has an ERA of 1.00. 2B Cabe Reiten and 1B Seth Brown both hit three-run home runs. Reiten also hit a double, and was 3-for-4. C Chadwick Ka'alekahi was also 3-for-4 with a double. Story The Wolves led the second game the entire way, starting with a two-RBI double by LF Matt Taylor in the first inning. Reiten went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in the third game, and he has had at least one hit in every game the Warriors have played this year. Story Michael Bennett, Shawn Domke, and Jacob Storedahl combined for the shutout in the fourth game. Three of the Wolves' runs came on a mis-played popup by Taylor. Story
The Warriors are now 10-5. They don't play again until March 7, when they host Corban.
#3 Oklahoma Wesleyan won two of three against Hastings, 10-0, 11-0, and 3-4. Hugo Lemus pitched a seven-inning, three hit shutout in the first game. RF Will Price hit a solo home run, got another RBI on a sacrifice fly. C.J. Gregory and Jeffery Deavenport combined for a three-hit shutout in the second game. Deavenport pitched the final inning, struck out all three batters he faced. Andrew Kuta went the nine inning distance in the third game, held the Eagles to three hits, didn't allow an earned run. The Broncos got all four of their runs in the top of the third inning, led by a two-RBI double by 2B Jake Steese. SS Brandon Utrup scored the winning run on a ground out by 1B Micah Lockerby. The Eagles visit Division II Rogers State Feb. 24, and host Concordia (NB) Feb. 27-28.
#4 Oklahoma Baptist swept four games against Midland, 4-3, 16-2, 7-0, and 1-0. The first game was won on an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh by RF Joey Szczepanski. Kelvin Rivas pitched the first six innings, allowed three hits, struck out 12. The Bison scored seven runs in the second inning of the second game. Story Taylor Hearn and Tallen Parker combined for a one-hit shutout in the third game. Only two of the Bisons' runs were earned. Jinny Parra and Kyle Fimbrez combined for the shutout in the fourth game. The only run of the game came on an RBI single in the fifth inning by C Cody Ziegler. Story The Bison are 14-0. They host Southwestern Assemblies of God Feb. 27-28.
#5 Faulkner swept Blue Mountain, 12-0,16-3, and 14-4. Phillip Anderson and Jackson Webb combined for the shutout in the mercy-rule-shortened first game. CF Chris Madera hit an RBI double for the winning run in the second game, which was followed by a two-run home run by RF Alexis Torres. The Eagles hit six home runs in the third game, two of them by SS Darlo Polanco of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. A scheduled game against #11 Embry-Riddle was rained out. The Eagles are 14-1. They host Lindenwood-Belleville Feb. 27-28.
#6 Georgia Gwinnett swept Fisher, 16-1, 9-0, and 14-4. Alex Roberts took a no-hitter into the sixth inning of the first game, ended up allowing one hit, struck out eight. Ryan Minteer, Tyler Oglesby, and Davis Adkins combined for a two-hit shutout in the second game; Minteer went seven innings, allowed two hists, struck out eight. Story LF Michael Hodorowski went 3-for-5 with a double, an RBI, and two runs scored in the third game. Story The Grizzlies are 11-3. They visit #1 Cumberland Feb. 25, and host Berea Feb. 28-March 1 (video).
#18 Concordia-Irvine took the lead in the Golden State Athletic Conference by sweeping San Diego Christian, 8-2, 9-3, and 17-4, while The Master's dropped a game to William Jessup. Spencer Moran got the win in the first game, went seven innings, allowed five hits, struck out 12. Story The Eagles got 21 hits in only seven innings in the third game. CF Mitchell Esser hit for the cycle, had five RBI. Story The Eagles are 18-3, and visit Vanguard Feb. 27-28. The Master's hosts Westmont Feb. 27-28 (video).
Perfect Game released an NAIA ranking on Feb. 18. As mentioned earlier, they have Missouri Baptist at #1. They have LSU-Shreveport at #3, Southeastern at #6, and Belhaven at #7.
